Harvesting – Thinning
Thinning is perhaps the most important operation in forests managed for timber production. It is crucial to remove the weaker and poorer quality trees to maximise the growth potential of remaining trees. With the aim to produce good quality and larger diameter timber for harvest which commands a higher price at the sawmill. We can manage your woodland from the 1st & 2nd thinning through to final clearfell ensuring you get maximum earning potential from each stage.
Tree Shearing
Our newest addition to the fleet is a OMEF 300 tree shear this attached to our 14ton Volvo digger. Shearing is perfect for small diameter trees which are going for biomass chip, site clearances or sensitive thinning’s. Shearing speeds up felling and greatly reduces the risks associated with chainsaw use, tree climbing/working at height and manual handling. Tree Shears use minimises traditional felling noise levels, reducing the impact on the local environment.
